Sleep
I take my sleep very seriously – it’s my number one priority. No matter what, I get at least a minimum of 8 hours of sleep every night. If for some reason I can’t get those 8 hours, I carve time out of the next day for a nap. If I don’t have time for a nap, I don’t make plans on the weekend so I can catch up on rest. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of rest for your body. Be careful not to get laziness and recharging your body confused – they are very different. I maximize sleep so that I can show up better for the hours that I am awake. My job requires that I bring energy every day, so I do not compromise on sleep!
Vegetable Juice
I swear by drinking your vegetables. It’s no secret that vegetables have endless health benefits, but it’s too difficult for me to eat enough of them every day. Drinking your vegetables allows you to actually get the right amount and without the fiber, it hits your body right away! I drink vegetable juice 2-3 times a week (about 16 oz.). My favorite flavors are at Pressed Juicery, but if you don’t want to shell out $6 a bottle you can make your own! I bought my juicer at Bed Bath & Beyond. Juicers typically run pretty expensive, but this is an amazing investment in your health. I have personally noticed improved energy, better skin, and a boosted immune system (I literally never get sick, and that’s my super power).
Vitamins
I take a handful of vitamins every. single. day. My career demands so much from my body that I do everything I can to take care of it and it works! I don’t remember the last time I was sick – and I have never had a flu shot, I don’t take medicine, and I don’t get hungover. I’m telling you – vitamins are the real deal. Every day I take a women’s multivitamin, a B12 supplement for natural energy, a Vitamin C supplement to help my immune system, and Vitamin D – because in Seattle we get zero sunlight. I also take a hair, skin & nails supplement and my hair dresser even commented that she could see the difference! Since I have started taking vitamins religiously, I have noticed a big difference overall in how great I feel.
Self-Care & Alone Time
Drink more water, drink less alcohol.
Eat more natural foods, eat less processed foods.
Move your body more and make time for yourself.
These things can be difficult at times and may require effort, but this is your body, health, and wellbeing we are talking about. You will have the same one forever, you don’t get a round two. Your body is everything. When you shift your mindset from “I have to drink eight damn glasses of water a day” to “Today I need to take care of the only body I will have in this life” the water seems really easy to drink. Cheers!
